Artificial turf in Desert Hills

Turf help for the unincorporated community along Highway 95, just outside Lake Havasu City.

Desert Hills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mohave County that borders Lake Havasu City on the south and east. It had 2,764 residents at the 2020 census and sits along Arizona State Route 95, about four miles from central Lake Havasu City.

Bigger lots, more open desert

Lots in Desert Hills tend to be larger and more open than in town, with natural desert around them. That leaves room for bigger projects, like a full backyard lawn or a putting green with a chipping area, but it also means more wind-blown dust and more critters looking for shade. A secure perimeter edge and a well-compacted base keep the turf from lifting and help keep burrowing animals out from under it.

County, not city

Because Desert Hills is outside city limits, Mohave County rules apply instead of Lake Havasu City's. If your project includes walls, grading or new irrigation, ask the installer whether any county permit is needed. A Lake Havasu City water rebate wouldn't apply unless you're a city water customer.

Popular projects

  • Large backyard lawns
  • Putting and chipping greens
  • Fenced dog runs
  • Play areas for families
